We’ve had several reports from clients that are experiencing random timeout issues with their site hosted behind Cloudflare.

It seems to have started around 2026-03-23 at 19:00 UTC.

Causes are still unclear but we suspect it might be due to a change from Cloudflare. We’re investigating.

As a temporary workaround, clients can disabling HTTP/2 to Origin from Cloudflare’s dashboard.

We have identified and reproduced the root cause of the issue. Cloudflare has modified the way they transmit certain HTTP/2 frames. Specifically, requests without a body are now occasionally sent with a HEADERS frame that does not include the END_STREAM flag. This is followed immediately by an empty DATA frame containing the END_STREAM flag.

This behavior appears to be intermittent, affecting approximately 5% to 10% of requests routed through Cloudflare. Our current HTTP stack does not handle this sequence correctly, and we are actively working on a fix.

Cloudflare has finally reverted their faulty change around 2026-03-26 at 23:50 UTC after complaints from their customers.

Customers that had disabled HTTP/2 as a temporary fix can now re-enable it from their Cloudflare’s dashboard.

A change to our HTTP stack to prevent this issue from causing trouble will be deployed in the next few days.
