One disk will be changed, from Seagate to Hitachi. We’re still struggling with disk issues on http7, http8 and http9. The disks sometimes timeout for no real reason. This issue started appearing nearly 18 months ago, and we’ve already tried many things (changing the disks, the SATA cables, the kernel, the whole motherboard, disabling smartd, disabling NCQ, etc.). We now suspect that Seagate hard drives are simply not reliable. We’ve alerted our provider, which alerted Seagate, but we don’t hold our breath. We also need to be sure that these disks really are the source of these timeouts, which is why we want to test a Hitachi disk. Expected downtime: about 20 minutes. |
