The machine will be replaced. All accounts will be smoothly transferred over the new machine. Expected downtime: a few seconds per account. A final reboot of the new machine will then be done to make sure everything is OK, with an additional ~60 seconds downtime.

3 août 2012 19:01

We’re starting the operation.

Note: accounts will be migrated over the next few hours. A tiny HTTP downtime is expected (a few seconds), but SSH, FTP and WebDAV accesses will be unavailable for longer (until the whole server is migrated).

The migration is almost complete. We’ll soon transfer the IP addresses over the new machine and finally reboot it.

3 août 2012 22:44

A kernel crash during the reboot caused an unexpected HTTP downtime.

3 août 2012 22:52

The hard reboot causes XFS to recover the disk.

3 août 2012 23:02

Taking a lot of time, we’re investigating.

Unfortunately, XFS is taking ages to mount (recover) the filesystem. It could take hours. We’re still considering our options there.

3 août 2012 23:26

The filesystem has mounted. We’re making sure everything is OK.

SSH, FTP and WebDAV accesses are back. Everything seems to be working properly. We’re still reviewing everything.

The migration is completed.

Needless to say, it didn’t happen as expected, due to that final kernel crash. The HTTP downtime should not have exceeded a couple of minutes. We’re very sorry about the inconvenience.

If your account is not working properly since the migration, please open a support ticket. We’ll still need to schedule a reboot tomorrow night.

The frequent hardware issues with http7 over the last few months should now be history.
